Tioman Trip...

...it was great!!!... this trip was really superb coz i have done things that i have never done before and see things that you cannot possibly see it elsewhere... really really glad that i went for this trip... muahhahaha... On the first day, WY,Ah K, and me arrived at Mersing jetty at around 4-5am... and we waited for like 5-6 hours before departing to Tioman Island... Nothing much we can do there early in the morning except continue to sleep... heeheee... When the sun started to come out, WY and I (Ah K joined us later after he woke up) walked around the Jetty and went down to the beach......Since it was low tide, we can walk around and explore on the large area... We saw ppl collecting oysters from the exposed rocks... At first I didn't know that they were oysters though... Just thought that they were some kind of non edible bivalve mollusks... And they seem lifeless like rocks......Besides oysters and barnacles that were found attached on the rocks, we found a lot of hermit crabs as well!!... This was the first time i saw a wild hermit crab though... heehee... Kind of excited, we went on to look for more hermit crab and Ah K found this super big one... It was so big that its movement seems clumsy......The sun started to get above our head and i started to sweat already... We went back to jetty and wait for the rest of the group... Once they all arrived, we prepared ourselves and boarded a ferry called SeaGull Express from Mersing to Tioman Island......Our destination was the Salang Indah Resort which was the 7th and the last stop at Tioman Island... At first i don't mind about the extra distance and being the last stop coz i wanted to treasure every second of the trip but after 2 or 3 stops, i felt asleep... heeheee... I was too tired after travelling from Seremban-KL-Mersing... The journey from KL to Mersing wasn't that good though... The bus driver drove like mad and he almost crashed to other vehicle while speeding to cross a bridge...0_o...We took about 3-4 hours to reach our resort from the Mersing Jetty... When it was getting closer to our resort, I was getting more excited coz the sea water was really clear and pristine at every resort that we stop by... It was also obvious that coral reefs were just underneath our ferry by looking at the black or dark brown patches in the clear water... Finally we arrived to our resort and greeted by our tour guide, Ah Poh... He was kind of friendly but sometimes may act a bit weird... heeheee... overall, i think he was a great tour guide... =)...Once we arrived at the resort, we were given a snorkelling lesson so that we can enjoy our snorkelling trips on the next day... At first, it was a bit creepy to swim and float on the surface of sea which was more than 3m deep... especially when i don't even know how to swim and float!!... After awhile and drank some sea water, i got used being floating on the water... Btw, it was my first time swimming on the open sea...!!!... muhahahahaha... =D ...After having our Seafood BBQ dinner, we went down to the beach and explored the area... This place was really superb and even the night sky was displaying millions or trillions of stars... On the last night, we can even observed shooting stars!!!!... it was super damn cool...!!! =D ...On the second day, we woke up just right before Ah Poh came and find us to call us down to have breakfast because we going to have several snorkelling trips throughout the day... The thing that annoyed me was the present of flies... They were everywhere and super damn a lot too......After having our breakfast, we decided to walk around the nearby beach since we still had some time before heading out for snorkelling... It was low tide and the scenery was really different from what we saw on the day before... It was covered up by water but now the water retreated and a lot of stuff were exposed......Sea cucumber was the most common animal that we saw in this trip... It can be seen everywhere we went... The fun part about this sea cucumber was that when it was taken out from the water, it will secrete water from its mouth or maybe anus which i was not very sure... heehee... After it secreted the water, it will become soft... ...Besides sea cucumber, this creature above was as common as well... Not really sure what it was but it seems like a sea slug... We didn't dare to touch it with our hand because of the present of spikes on all around its body... It seems poisonous... So we just "kacau" it by using some sticks until we felt satisfied... muhahahahaha... =P...The second day was the most tiring day because we were given 3 snorkelling trips to 3 different places... I can't remember the names for the first 2 places but the third and last place was the Marang Rocks which was the most dangerous spot due to its narrow pathway for ppl to swim through... For several times, i almost hit on those rocks coz i was too engrossed looking at the coral reefs... ...I was so glad that i bought my disposable underwater camera coz i'll definitely regret it if i don't... Although i can't really see well without my glasses, I can roughly make up what's the shape and colour of the coral reefs... Only the details can't be seen... =( ...Lesson learned, i should have a pair of contact lens......When i saw all these coral reefs, they were not what i had in mind because i thought they will be very very colourful... but instead it was filled with dark red, light yellowish brown, etc coloured coral reefs... and we can see a lot of damages had done to the coral reefs at some of the spots that we went for the snorkelling trips... It was obvious because one can see those lifeless and colourless pieces of coral reefs laid on the bed of the sea... Yep, it was not a pleasant sight... The thing that made us really angry during one of the snorkelling trips was when a guy damaged a coral reefs while trying to impress his girlfriend... Walau eh... these coral reefs took hundreds of years to grow lor... Really wanna knock his head and lecturing him... haha... Talking about annoying ppl, we met a lot of them during this Tioman Trip... They were those super inconsiderate smokers and those ppl who throw rubbish like nobody's business......While snorkelling, there were several must-see stuffs and nemo (Clown Fish) was one of them... Almost everybody was looking for them and yeah, i was of of them too... =) ...Since i don't know how to dive, i can only manage to take photos of these cute fish from afar... I'm not sure whether these 2 nemos can be spotted in the picture above, but they seems like a black coloured rather than a more common orange coloured ones... ...It was kind of rare to be able to see colourful coral reefs and being able to see one was really really lucky... Without our 11 yrs experienced tour guide, it was kind of impossible for us to look for the best spots to observe these beautiful creatures... He knows well regarding the places... When a purple coloured coral was spotted, i was really excited and gave my camera over to Ah Poh to help me took a close up photo of it... I really wish i had the guts to dive at that time... =(
...At the last spot for the snorkelling, Ivan, WH and I saw a couple of squid swimming just below of us... I thought i took a photo of them but too bad i run out of film... haizzz... ...On the last day, after packing our stuffs, MC and i went to the nearby beach for a final walk before we heading back home... Really hope can stay there for a bit longer =( ...So basically we just strolled around and randomly took photos of the place... Really really going to miss the place and resort here......The scenery there changed every second everyday... at least what i had observed for 2 consecutive mornings were quite different... The first morning on the second day, we can clearly see a large semi dried land but the morning after, it was still flooded with water... ...Being on an island that is surrounded by coral reefs had effects on the scenery of the beaches as well... Trillion pieces of coral reefs can be found on all beaches... and that excluded seashells... Variety of seasells can be found there... even purple-coloured seashells can be found!!!... I tried looking for my favourite coloured shells but failed... haizz... don't think got blue seashells ba... heehee... Really going to miss this place a lot and if got chance, will visit this place again... heeheee...

...everybody minus WY and Ah K... They went back earlier than us coz they need to catch their early bus back to KL... =)

I like your pictures! especially the 2nd one!

I hate sea cucumber...

I went snorkelling before in Pangkor but didn't get to see a single coral ...Maybe because I was in uglier side of the island (which is for poor people...hahaha) so, lucky you! And the underwater water world is really beautiful!

yep yep... everybody need to wear life jackets... we all just floating around... at first i dun really trust the life jacket so i'm a bit nervous and drank sea water... heeheee... so for those who never snorkel or swim before... just relax and the life jacket is really really useful... especially for those who dunno how to float... heeheee... =)
